Gorton Center is thrilled to announce its lineup of summer camps tailored to inspire and empower middle school girls. These innovative camps are designed to foster creativity, leadership, and skill development while providing a fun and enriching experience for participants.

Budding Entrepreneurs!

GIRL GONNA LAUNCH   July 29 – August 9
Empowering the next generation of female entrepreneurs, this two-week camp offers a unique opportunity for girls to explore entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership. From idea generation to business planning, participants will develop the skills and mindset to thrive in college and beyond, while making a positive impact in their communities.

ASPIRATIONAL PORTRAITURE: TEEN ART CAMP WITH JOALIDA SMIT   June 10 – 14  and June 24 – 28
Renowned neuropsychologist turned full-time artist, Joalida Smit, invites aspiring young artists to her studio for a week of exploration and creation. Through drawing and painting, participants will craft aspirational portraits reflecting their current inspirations and future aspirations. From mastering the fundamentals of art to expressing individuality on canvas, this camp promises a journey of self-discovery and artistic growth.

PROJECT RUNWAY MINI SEWING CAMP WITH CIAO BELLA    July 1 – 3
Creativity takes center stage in this sewing camp, where young designers unleash their imaginations and bring their visions to life. With expert guidance from Ciao Bella instructors, participants will design and sew their own projects, culminating in a showcase of creativity and craftsmanship.

NEW MEDIA: CHICAGO SUMMER STORIES   July 8 – 19
Led by Lake Forest High School’s New Media Instructor, Steve Gregory, this hands-on workshop empowers students to unleash their storytelling potential using the iPhones in their pockets. Through collaborative video production, participants will learn the art of visual storytelling, from concept to editing, while capturing the essence of Chicago’s vibrant culture and community.

The new Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from MEDIC First Aid gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, care giving, and first aid tips
