Though open to all levels of experience, Songwriting 101 is geared towards those new to the craft. In this course, we’ll cover the basics of what makes a song a song, and begin to use those key components to pen some of our own. This course will focus primarily on lyrics and song structure; no instrument proficiency is required.

This class runs on Mondays, June 12 – July 24 (NO CLASS JULY 3), 10:00am – 11:00am

Ages 16 and up! (Can make exceptions for younger participants)

Kacie is a musician, songwriter, and educator based in Evanston, IL. Aside from running her private teaching studio and directing at a nearby church, Kacie founded, performs, and writes with Albion West – a progressive folk trio based in Chicago, IL (www.albionwest.com). Her goal within her own work, as well as her stance on teaching, is to intertwine the ideas of theory, technique, and repertoire with the expression of self. She holds a degree in Commercial Music from Indiana University (www.kacieswierk.com ).
