Join Areta and Katie for an afternoon of Restorative Yoga. This class will be made up of a series of simple movements to warm up the body, followed by relaxing restorative poses which will be held for an extended period of time with props. Restorative Yoga is a necessary part of our yoga practice to help us restore physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
This class will run on the following dates in 2021, beginning on October 24th from 2-4PM

About the instructors:
Katie shares a yoga practice that is accessible to everyone. She enjoys teaching yoga to children, school teachers, cancer center clients, new mothers, and older adults. Katie is a student in the Krishnamacharya/Desikachar lineage (sometimes referred to as “Viniyoga”) and is grateful for her teachers who have shared this knowledge with her. In addition to being registered at the 500 HR level with Yoga Alliance, Katie has completed trainings in children’s yoga, restorative yoga, and yoga nidra. Most recently, she has been studying Yoga Therapy under the tutelage of J.J. Gormley and Laura Jane Mellencamp as it was taught by T.K.V. Desikachar. Coming from a twenty-year career in art and illustration Katie loves to use creative exploration in her yoga classes.
Areta has been teaching yoga in Lake Forest and in yoga studios along the North Shore for 10 years, and is E-RYT 500 Certified. Areta’s passion is bringing yoga to Every BODY, and has additional certifications in Meditation, Adaptive Yoga for Disabilities, Senior Yoga, Love Your Brain for traumatic brain injury, Yoga for Eating Disorder Recovery, Yin Yoga, and Yoga for 12 Step Recovery. Areta teaches yoga to inspire and empower physical well being, spiritual balance and awakening for everyday life. She is a long time resident of Lake Forest and a disability advocate and volunteer yoga coach for Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA).

Refunds will only be given up to one week prior to the first week of class of any session. (The refund period for some classes, which require advanced reservations or purchase of materials, may be more limited.) Cancellations will incur a $5 handling fee for programs costing under $100 and a 10% handling fee for programs with fees of $100 or more. If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, you will be notified, and a full refund will be given.
If this class does not meet the minimum participation requirement, you will be notified of the cancellation within one week of the start date.
