Gorton CenterA touch of Ireland in Lake Forest! This special camp is a fun, hands-on introduction to Irish dance in addition to music, culture and arts.
Campers will start (or continue) to learn the traditional Irish jig, a group céilí dance, and other skills related to balance, coordination and rhythm. A musician will be in attendance for part of the week to provide an authentic introduction to traditional Irish music, and different cultural and educational activities will be incorporated throughout each day of camp.
Dance instruction is provided by Katie Fitzpatrick T.C.R.G. and the Fitzpatrick School of Irish Dance and cultural and educational activities are supported by Irish Community Services. For more information, visit www.fitzpatrickschoolofirishdance.com.
Attire: Campers should wear a navy t-shirt and navy shorts/skort with gym shoes, jazz shoes or ballet shoes. Continuing FSID dancers should wear class attire and Irish dance shoes. Hair should be tied securely off the face.
What to bring: Campers must bring their own nut-free lunch and a water bottle.
