Beginner Embroidery: Chicago Skyline Hoop

Always wanted to try embroidery but did not know where to start? Embroider the Skyline is a beginner-friendly workshop that makes it easy to jump in and start stitching!

Learn a variety of essential embroidery stitches in a relaxed and creative setting. Follow step-by-step instruction as you practice each technique and build your skills. Then, use what you learn to create your own beautiful 6-inch Chicago skyline hoop.

Choose your stitches, add texture and detail, and watch your design come to life one thread at a time. Along the way, you’ll build confidence and discover the relaxing, creative joy of embroidery.

Take home a unique handmade piece to display in your home or give as a thoughtful gift. No experience is needed, and we provide all materials. Just bring your curiosity, enjoy the process, and learn a new creative skill!

Louise is an Irish textile designer with over 30 years of experience in the fabric world. A self-proclaimed textile guru, she loves creating, teaching, and sharing the creative process with others. Always learning and exploring new ideas, Louise is passionate about inspiring others to discover the joy of textiles and creativity.

Gorton offers financial assistance and flexible payment options to individuals who may be unable to afford standard program fees. This support ensures that everyone has the opportunity to participate in meaningful learning and cultural enrichment experiences. Applications are reviewed based on demonstrated financial need.

Gorton Center will take and may use photos and videos from this event for its promotional purposes. Your attendance indicates your consent to the above.

Refunds will only be given up to one week prior to the first week of class of any session. (The refund period for some classes, which require advanced reservations or purchase of materials, may be more limited.) Cancellations will incur a $5 handling fee for programs costing under $100 and a 10% handling fee for programs with fees of $100 or more. If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, you will be notified, and a full refund will be given.

If this class does not meet the minimum participation requirement, you will be notified of the cancellation within one week of the start date.
