Allgood and Madsen’s collaboration began in 2017 with regular appearances at Winter’s Jazz Club in Chicago, where they quickly developed a strong musical chemistry. Since then, they’ve built a loyal following and now enjoy a monthly residency at the club. Affectionately dubbed “Mad-Good,” this duo lives up to the name with every performance.

Alyssa Allgood has earned national recognition for her artistry. In 2024, she was named a Rising Star Female Vocalist in the DownBeat Magazine Critics Poll and voted Best Individual Jazz Musician in the Chicago Reader Poll. Known for her expressive voice and fearless improvisation, she commands the stage with clarity and passion. Critics have praised her “boldness, swagger, and surefooted musicianship” and her ability to deliver songs with both intensity and tenderness.

Chris Madsen

Chris Madsen is a cornerstone of the Chicago jazz scene. A gifted saxophonist, composer, and educator, Chris has taught at several major universities and now leads the jazz program at Loyola University Chicago. He’s also a respected clinician, frequently invited to share his expertise with students and ensembles worldwide. His performances are marked by lyricism, technical excellence, and a true love for the art of jazz.
