April 26, 2024The Fly Fishing Film Tour returns to Gorton for a seventh year to Gorton on April 7th! Always an amazing round-up of fishing related films, it promises to be another great year, guaranteed to kick-off the season in style.
The F3T is the original and largest fly fishing film event of its kind and we are proud to be an annual community event for all anglers. Come for the action and stay for the giveaways and camaraderie that will feed your fishing addiction.
As we were discussing the festival in the office, we learned we have several fly fishers on staff! And unlike the typical stereotype, several of our fishers are women. We came across this great Midwest Living article about a group of female fly fishers in Wisconsin – maybe they’ll be in the area for the tour’s stop so near to WI at Gorton!
The Fly Fishing Film Tour stop at Gorton is generously underwritten by Maddie Dugan, an avid fly fisher herself, She was kind to share some photos with us:
1 – For 20 years Maddie has been fishing for smallmouth bass on the Menominee River downstream from Iron Mountain, MI.
2 – The biggest bonefish Maddie ever landed after a 45-minute fight on a fly 8+#s in Abaco, Bahamas. She was shaking too hard to hold it, so her guide helped her out.
3 – Maddie taught her grandson how to flyfish on the Henry’s Fork River!
4 – Maddie’s son loves fly fishing as much as she does!
5 – A photo of her grandson practicing after dinner on Robinson Creek at Three Rivers Ranch in Idaho.
As an added bonus, our friends from the local chapter of Trout Unlimited will be on hand – try your hand at casting and learn how to perfect your knot tying skills – and learn about their work and their summer camp!
