Gorton Center – John & Nancy Hughes TheaterJoin us at Gorton Center for a captivating screening of The Wild Robot, an animated adventure that takes viewers on a journey of survival, connection, and self-discovery. After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot named Roz washes ashore on a remote, uninhabited island. With no instructions, Roz must rely on her ingenuity and instincts to navigate the harsh and unfamiliar environment.
As Roz tries to understand her new home, she begins to bond with the island’s animals—learning from them how to adapt, communicate, and live in harmony with nature. Her journey takes a touching turn when she discovers an orphaned baby goose, whom she names Brightbill. Determined to care for the helpless creature, Roz finds herself experiencing the complexities of emotional growth, forming a deep bond with Brightbill that challenges her previously logical, programmed existence.
As Roz faces increasingly difficult trials, from natural disasters to threats from the island’s predators, her understanding of family, survival, and love evolves in ways she never imagined. Her efforts to protect Brightbill and the animals of the island help her discover a purpose far beyond her original programming, leading to a heartwarming conclusion that celebrates the power of compassion and the importance of connection.
Directed by Chris Sanders, The Wild Robot features an all-star voice cast including Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, Pedro Pascal, and Kit Connor. With its stunning animation, rich storytelling, and emotional depth, this film is sure to captivate audiences of all ages.
