Our Guests: The January 17th event at Gorton Center will feature the film screening and conversations with the filmmaker, Nik Heftman, producer & veteran journalist, Doug Burns (https://theiowamercury.substack.com ) and special guest and subject of the film, spoken word poet Caleb Rainey (https://www.thenegroartist.com)
The Film: It is a beautiful and uplifting piece, gorgeously filmed, which weaves the story of the work of spoken word artist, Caleb Rainey, with those of the young students and farming community members in whom his work inspires, uplifts and heals. It’s a moving film about the power of poetry and communication in knitting communities together and even inspiring healing and change. While set in rural Iowa, its message is compelling and relevant for all.
Support: In addition to coming to the event, or if you are unable to attend, I invite you to make a donation to The Seven Times to help Nik continue his great work All funds raised will go toward promoting this film, entrance submission fees for international film festivals, to continue his media platform, as well as to help fund his next documentary film which is currently in the concept phase.
