Striving & Surviving Cancer Foundation: 25th Anniversary Celebration Concert at Gorton Center
Join us for an unforgettable night of music, inspiration, and community as we celebrate 25 years of the Striving & Surviving Cancer Foundation, a Lake County nonprofit that has been uplifting and supporting women with cancer since 1998.
Founded by Beverly McCray, the Foundation began as a small, compassionate support group and has grown into a vital lifeline for countless individuals and families. In 2000, the organization was joined by local musicians Lonnie Givens and Lester Deanes, whose passion and commitment brought music and healing to the mission. Now, in October 2025, we honor their incredible legacy in a celebration concert that brings it all full circle.
This special fundraising event features an all-star musical lineup, including:
-
The Detroit Emeralds, Motown-era platinum recording legends known for hits like Feel the Need and Do Me Right
-
Charles and the Floaters, platinum-selling soul artists delivering classic R&B vibes
-
Lonnie Givens, beloved Lake County R&B artist, in a powerful and emotional homecoming performance
-
Backed by the majestic sound of the Lake County Symphony Orchestra
This promises to be an evening that celebrates not only great music but also the resilience, hope, and strength of the cancer community. Proceeds from the event will support the continued work of the Striving & Surviving Cancer Foundation, helping to provide resources, support, and encouragement to those facing cancer diagnoses.
VIP Tickets include access to an exclusive post-show meet & greet with the performers—a perfect way to make the night even more special!
Don’t miss this inspiring and joyous milestone event. Come for the music, stay for the mission, and leave with your heart full.
