Step into the spotlight! In this high-energy musical theater class, students explore what it means to perform like a pop star—on stage and in character. Through scenes, songs, and choreography, performers build acting skills, stage presence, vocal confidence, and ensemble awareness in a fun and supportive environment.
Students will work with material inspired by pop and musical theater hits such as “This Is Me,” “Shake It Off,” “Roar,” “Brave,” and selections from High School Musical and The Greatest Showman. Songs and scenes are introduced from a curated list, and students will have an active voice in helping choose which pieces are developed and performed throughout the session.
Class work includes rehearsing scenes, learning group and small-ensemble songs, and developing simple choreography that supports storytelling and character work. Emphasis is placed on collaboration, confidence, and performance skills as students grow from rehearsal to presentation.
Presentation: The session culminates in a final presentation for family and friends. This Level Two presentation consists of scenes and songs from well-known sources that have been rehearsed throughout the session. Songs are presented in one large group or multiple small groups and include simple choreography.
This class is ideal for students ready to move beyond introductory exploration and begin developing stronger performance techniques while still having creative input and fun.
