The LFCO closes our season of celebration and looks ahead to next year with “Phoenix Rising.” Written in 2008, Stella Sung’s “Phoenix Rising” reflects the tale of a mythical bird, the phoenix, which is considered a powerful symbol in many cultures throughout the world. We pair Sung’s work with Wagner’s popular Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. The program closes with a work which occupied Johannes Brahms for decades, his Symphony No. 1.
