Gorton CenterA fascinator is a fun and fashionable headpiece. It’s usually attached to a headband or small base. Picture feathers, flowers, jewels, netting—whatever catches your eye! Whether you’re dressing up for a wedding, garden party, derby, or evening out, a fascinator adds a perfect touch of personality and style.
In this energetic and hands-on 4-hour workshop, you’ll design and build your own custom fascinator. You’ll choose from a variety of materials and learn how to shape, layer, and assemble them into a unique creation. Whether your style is bold or understated, you’ll leave with a piece that reflects you.
This small class setting allows for plenty of individual attention. You’ll receive one-on-one guidance from your instructor throughout the session. Expect a relaxed, welcoming environment where you can explore your creativity.
No hat-making experience is necessary. While basic hand-sewing skills can help, they aren’t required. We provide all materials and tools—you just bring your imagination.
Fascinator-making is more than a craft—it’s a way to express your personal flair. Spend a few fun hours with us and walk away with a headpiece that turns heads and sparks conversation. You’ll also pick up some basic millinery techniques along the way!
Veronica Chin drew upon a teacher’s vast knowledge of hat making to create Burning Bush Millinery in 1988. After receiving a BFA/Fashion Design from Washington University/St. Louis and a MS/Textiles, Environment and Design from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and working in the L.A. fashion industry, she has taught beginning and advanced millinery for over thirty years in many Chicago area colleges including Ray Vogue, the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago and the College of DuPage. Veronica has taught workshops at Judith M Millinery to milliners from all over the U.S. and Canada, as well as conducting Master’s class for The Association of Sewing Design Professionals. She has taught hundreds of students throughout her career and many were inspired to become professional milliners themselves.
