Ana Kohout is excited to bring Brain Academy back to the Gorton Center again this summer! Last year, we had so much fun learning new concepts through a variety of engaging activities!

Brain Gain Academy is an inclusive, comprehensive one week academic camp aimed to help prepare your child for their upcoming school year! We will provide individualized intervention to meet your child’s needs during this short period of time through engaging, meaningful, and age appropriate activities. We will start with a learning evaluation before camp starts to uncover academic strengths and weaknesses. This information will be used to differentiate instruction as needed.  During camp, we will work on a variety of math skills that span from basic math fact recall, math strategies, math word problems, and how to better share your thinking!  In reading, we will work on decoding and encoding skills, in the context of reading, as well as reading comprehension skills, and written responses.   Throughout the week, students will also improve their executive functioning skills, and be able to apply what they learn to their daily lives. Ages 6 – 9

Ana Kohout grew up in Lake Forest, IL and attended Lake Forest district 67/115  K-12th grade. She currently lives in Janesville, WI, and teaches 2nd-5th grade Special Education to students with a variety of learning disabilities in Beloit, WI.
