THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED. PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE NEXT SESSION IN JULY!

Though open to all levels of experience, Songwriting 101 is geared towards those new to the craft. In this course, we’ll cover the basics of what makes a song a song, and begin to use those key components to pen some of our own. This course will focus primarily on lyrics and song structure, no instrument proficiency is required. For those interested in composition, please see the course “Adult Music Theory/Composition 1: Foundations”.

This class runs on Mondays, June 20 – July 18 (NO CLASS JULY 4), 10:00am – 11:00am

Kacie is a musician, songwriter, and educator newly based in Lake Forest. Aside from running her private teaching studio, Kacie founded, performs, and writes with Albion West – a folk/jazz/classical artist collective based in Chicago, IL (www.albionwest.com). Her goal within her own work, as well as her stance on teaching, is to intertwine the ideas of theory, technique, and repertoire with the expression of self. She holds a degree in Commercial Music from Indiana University (www.kacieswierk.com).

Gorton Center will take and may use photos and videos from this event for its promotional purposes. Your attendance indicates your consent to the above.
