Four-Day Interactive Safety Awareness Program

  • Safety Town Majors is for 5-7 year-olds only. To register for this camp, your child must be between the ages of 5 and 7 at the time of camp, with no exceptions.
  • No repeat campers. Gorton Center will review 2025 graduation list and if your camper has attended Majors camp, you will be contacted and your child withdrawn. This policy allows more opportunities for new campers in the community.
  • Have an 8-10-year-old? Sign up for Safety Town Commanders here!
What A Camp Day Looks Like

Each day, campers explore essential safety skills through hands-on activities led by certified teachers, community guest speakers, and visits from the Lake Forest Police and Fire Departments. With guidance from trained teen volunteers, kids practice pedestrian safety by riding tricycles through a miniature town complete with streets, sidewalks, stop signs, and a working traffic signal. Campers also build confidence by memorizing an important phone number, singing fun safety songs, and learning the Safety Town Pledge.

Safety Town Majors takes place at Gorton Center Tuesday, June 9 through Friday, June 12 from 1–4 pm, rain or shine. The week wraps up with a graduation celebration in our theater on Friday. Campers receive a Safety Town t-shirt on the first day and should bring a helmet each day—tricycles are provided.
