Gorton Center – John & Nancy Hughes TheaterPlease join Friends of Sears Sunken Garden and filmmaker, Thomas Piper, for a private screening of Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf. This film is an immersion into the life and work of the most influential landscape designer of the last 50 years. Piet is known for New York’s High Line and Lurie Garden in Millennium Park as well as many other iconic urban spaces. He is in great demand for his revolutionary ideas of what gardens and public spaces can be, and the impact they can have. More than just a movie for gardeners, Five Seasons changes the way we think about and ultimately see beauty itself.
After the 75 minute film there will be a Q & A with filmmaker Thomas Piper, garden designer and GCA Medal of Honor Roy Diblik, garden designer Austin Eischeid, and certified permaculture designer and teacher Annamaria Leon.
In addition to showing the film, Friends of Sears Sunken Garden, a 501c3 nonprofit organization established in 2021, will share details about Piet’s current project – the restoration of the historic Sears Sunken Garden located on the former campus of Sears, Roebuck & Co. in North Lawndale. Friends of Sears Sunken Garden is working to raise $5M for the successful completion of this project. Learn more and consider a donation here: searssunkengarden.org/donate.
