Join Karen and Jim Belli of Belli Farms and learn all about honey bees! Participants will be able to sample honey, try on beekeeping gear, see live honey bees and more! All ages are welcome!
This class is on Saturday, June 18, 10:00am – 12:00pm
Jim and Karen purchased a 45-acre farm located in Old Mill Creek in 1989. They spent the next 12 years altering the landscape, creating a unique mix of flowering plants and trees that created an idyllic setting for honeybees. In 2001, they placed three beehives on their property. They have expanded their apiary to 40 hives. They are active in local, state, and national beekeeping organizations and mentor many new beekeepers. Belli Farm honey has been awarded eighty Blue Ribbons, six Grand Champion Awards and nine Killion Sweepstakes Trophies at the Illinois State Fair Honey Show and forty First Premiums and three Best in Show at the American Beekeeping Federation Honey Show.
