Step back in time to the 1930’s and act in a radio play presentation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic pirate adventure, “Treasure Island.” It’s 1933 and you are a radio actor, dressed in 1930’s clothing. Take on the role of Jim, Long John Silver, Captain Smollette or one of the salty pirates fighting to get the treasure. With script in hand, you are on stage in the Grotto Room, a small theater with stage lights that is downstairs at Gorton Center. As a radio actor, you can help bring this family friendly adaptation to life with dialogue, music and sound effects in front of a live audience.

The last class will be the performance on April 20 in the Grotto.

This class runs on Wednesdays, March 30 – April 20, 4:00pm – 6:00pm

Instructor Bio:  Jeremy Kruse, Artistic Director of Gorton Drama Studio, is the author of “The Young Actor’s Handbook” (Applause Acting Series, 2017). Jeremy is a professional actor, published playwright, award-winning screenwriter, and award-winning filmmaker. Some of the classes he taught at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York include Method Acting, Comedic Improvisation, Sketch Comedy Writing, and Acting for Film and TV. He graduated from The Strasberg Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he majored in drama.
