Gorton CenterThis in-person/on-site Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid class is perfect for daycare providers, parents, grandparents and young adults wanting to care for children. The class teaches skills for coming to the aid of infants and children as well as how to assist adults experiencing an injury or illness.
You will learn how to enter an accident scene safely, assist an ill or injured person until help arrives, and perform life-saving skills such as rescue breathing, CPR, and managing an obstructed airway.
The class includes how to use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). This course is designed by Medic First Aid, a worldwide leader in emergency care training programs. Students will receive a CPR, AED and First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults valid for two years, upon successful completion of the course.
This class will satisfy DCFS child-care requirements. This class will not satisfy a BLS requirement. A test is not required but students must be able to physically participate and demonstrate all hands-on skills to achieve the certification.
Class materials include a paperback reference book and paper certification card given in class. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a sack lunch. Please bring a yoga mat and/or cushion for kneeling.
This class will run Saturday, April 9, 9:00am – 3:00pm and is for ages 12 and up!
