During this course students will learn how to sew on the sewing machine. They will work on cutting fabric, pinning and sewing. Students will work on sewing items that they can use and wear during the fall season. Projects will include pants, a sweater and matching bag. If you are a beginner or an experienced sewer, this class is for you! Sewing supplies, including fabric, thread, needles, and pins, will be provided. Ages 7 – 12

Learning to sew has many benefits:

• Sewing teaches practical skills that they can use throughout life like learning to sew on buttons, mending garments, or even creating their own clothing fosters independence and self-sufficiency.
• Following patterns, measuring, and making precise cuts and stitches develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as well as problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Sewing can be a calming and therapeutic activity. The focus and concentration required during sewing can help children relax, reduce stress, and improve their overall well-being. It allows them to immerse themselves in a creative process and enjoy a sense of accomplishment when they complete a project.
