Gorton Center – John & Nancy Hughes TheaterJoin the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra for our Sunday concert series at Gorton Center. Music’s
ability to tell a story has inspired generations of composers. In his famous orchestral work Les
Préludes, Franz Liszt portrays an unnamed central character as a musical theme. Through
varying changes and treatments of this theme, Lizst tells the story of the ups and downs,
triumphs and turmoil, and occasional serenity experienced throughout this character’s life.
Tchaikovsky expands on this idea in his powerful and dramatic Fifth Symphony.
Violinist Ruth Kim, a student at Stevenson High School, will join the LFCO to perform the first
movement of Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1.
