SUMMARY:Periwinkle Studio Art Camp: Artful Items
DESCRIPTION:Camp registration opens on Monday\, February 2 at 10 am\nCreative Arts & Crafts Camp: Art Meets Function!\nWe designed this art camp for young creators who love to make things they can actually use. All week long\, campers dive into hands-on techniques and turn ideas into functional\, one-of-a-kind art. \nFirst\, they explore fiber and design. They weave colorful tapestries and create personalized wall hangings that show off their style. \nThen\, they bring storytelling into the mix. Each camper makes a handmade book filled with drawings\, designs\, and creative surprises. Finally\, they look to nature. Campers create a vase with permanent flowers\, adding lasting color and beauty to their homes. \nAlong the way\, campers learn how to see materials differently. They repurpose everyday objects and turn them into something new. As a result\, they build confidence\, think creatively\, and discover how art can be both beautiful and useful. \nPeriwinkle Art Studio invites kids to join this fun and inspiring camp\, where creativity flows\, skills are learned\, and campers walk away with a set of handmade treasures they can proudly display or use. Whether your child is a seasoned artist or just starting to explore their creative side\, this camp promises to provide a nurturing\, hands-on environment for artistic growth and self-expression. \nAges 7 – 12

SUMMARY:Turning Teen: Body Basics for Boys
DESCRIPTION:Boys can grow so fast\, it can take your breath away. Or their growth can proceed more slowly\, confusing or even frustrating them. Talking to our boys about puberty is hard to do\, for both mothers and fathers. But supportive conversations are vital to them—even when they seem like they don’t want or need to talk. We can help. \nLearn about male anatomy\, puberty\, body changes\, emotions\, and more! Turning Teen offers interactive pediatrician-developed educational workshops that are fun\, modern\, and medically accurate! \nFor boys 10+ (who haven’t started puberty yet or are in the early stages) and their parent/trusted adult \nTurning Teen\, founded by Dr. Lisa Klein and Dr. Carrie Leff\, helps families talk openly about puberty\, bodies\, and sex. Our programs\, led by medical and mental health professionals\, provide accurate\, age-appropriate information to make these conversations more comfortable for kids and their caregivers.   \nDr. Jessica Reggi is Chicagoland’s Turning Teen board-certified pediatrician. She practiced clinical pediatrics throughout Chicago for about eight years before transitioning to nonprofit leadership. She is passionate about the intersection of health and education and has facilitated trainings about vaccines\, vaping\, and more for school districts\, community organizations\, and health champions across the country.

SUMMARY:Cookie Decorating Little Sprouts (3 - 5 Years)
DESCRIPTION:Cookie Decorating with Lindy City Bakes\nJoin us for a fun\, hands-on cookie decorating class made just for little bakers! Little Sprouts is designed for children ages 3–5. In this class\, kids explore the sweet world of creativity through color\, texture\, and taste. \nWe start with pre-baked cookies\, so the focus is all on decorating. Children use frosting\, sprinkles\, and edible decorations. They squeeze\, spread\, and shake. Each cookie becomes a small work of art. \nThis class is sensory-friendly. We create a calm and welcoming space. Young learners feel supported as they experiment. They can explore at their own pace. No pressure\, just play. \nDecorating cookies helps more than creativity. Kids practice fine motor skills. They build hand strength and coordination\, learn to follow simple steps and gain confidence with each design. \nAt the same time\, they have fun! Expect sticky fingers\, messy tables\, and lots of smiles. Every swirl of frosting or sprinkle of color adds to the excitement. Children get to see their ideas come to life right in front of them. \nParents and caregivers are welcome to join in. Together\, you’ll share laughter and create sweet memories. Decorating side by side encourages bonding and teamwork. It’s a simple activity that sparks big joy. \nNo baking experience is needed. Just bring curiosity and a love of fun. We’ll guide the rest. Kids leave with decorated cookies to enjoy or share. More importantly\, they leave with pride in what they created. \nLittle Sprouts is more than a class. It’s an invitation to imagine\, explore\, and connect. From the first squeeze of frosting to the last bite\, it’s a celebration of creativity. \nCome decorate\, discover\, and delight with us. We can’t wait to see what your little baker creates!  \nLittle Sprouts Cookie Decorating Class  is for Ages 3 – 5  \nAugust’s theme: Back to School\nElizabeth Lindberg— Lindy City Bakes– Beth Lindberg is the owner and creative heart behind Lindy City Bakes\, a whimsical\, sugar-inspired business that brings joy and artistry to the community through in-home cookie decorating parties and custom cookie bouquets.
