SUMMARY:Breaking Barriers with Becky Calder
DESCRIPTION:An American Trailblazer\nJoin us for an inspiring evening with Becky Calder\, the first female graduate of the U.S. Navy’s elite Top Gun program. As a decorated F/A-18 fighter pilot and veteran of multiple combat deployments\, Becky brings not only unmatched experience but also a compelling story of courage\, leadership\, and perseverance. In a field historically dominated by men\, her journey stands as a powerful example of breaking barriers and forging new paths. \nThis event is open to everyone – students\, professionals\, families\, and community members alike. No matter your background\, Becky’s story transcends gender and occupation. In fact\, it speaks directly to anyone who has faced obstacles while striving for excellence. \nOver the course of nearly two decades\, Becky served with distinction in the U.S. Navy. During that time\, she flew missions across the globe and trained the next generation of fighter pilots. As a result\, she not only shattered a glass ceiling but also helped redefine what’s possible for future generations. In particular\, her legacy offers inspiration to young women and girls who dare to lead\, fly\, or dream big. \nThrough a talk and presentation by Becky\, a fireside chat with a moderator\, and an audience Q&A\, Becky will share vivid stories and hard-earned lessons. Her insights into grit\, confidence\, decision-making under pressure\, and resilience will resonate with all. Ultimately\, her talk will leave you feeling energized\, empowered\, and ready to face your own challenges. \nDon’t miss this rare opportunity to hear from a true American original\, someone who has not only flown jets but also defied limits every step of the way. \nBecky Calder’s story isn’t just about flying jets\, it’s about defying limits. \nPlease note\, this talk contains adult themes (war related) that some may deem inappropriate for young children. \nAbout Becky Calder\nOriginally from Longview\, Washington and a graduate of Phillips Academy\, Andover and the United States Naval Academy\, she earned her designation as a Naval Aviator in July of 2000 and began her career as an F/A-18 Hornet pilot where she has served in multiple squadrons. She flew missions in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Southern Watch in 2002 and in support of Iraqi Freedom in 2008. \n \nRebecca attended the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in 2004 where she became the first female pilot to graduate from the elite program. She has accrued over 2\,500 flight hours and 421 carrier arrested landings and became the first woman to have her basketball jersey (#32) retired from the United States Naval Academy in January 2014. She was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004\, and inducted into the Andover Athletics Hall of Honor in 2008\, as part of the inaugural class. \nRebecca received her Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Regent University in 2019 and is currently a PhD student pursuing her doctorate in Organizational Leadership\, also at Regent. She has given keynote and motivational speeches on Women in Leadership\, Veterans in the Workplace\, and Resilience.

Marra Interiors in 2009 and became a principal partner in 2013. \n
