SUMMARY:All Things Guitar Workshop with Dave Hiltebrand
DESCRIPTION:Guitar players and enthusiasts can enjoy an interactive workshop covering popular guitar playing\nconcepts\, from approaching different styles and techniques on acoustic and electric\, to the use of effects\nand creative looping. Attendees are welcome to bring their own instruments. Each workshop will\nculminate with a group jam for those interested. These workshops are a great opportunity for guitar lovers to come together and celebrate all things guitar. All experience levels are welcome! \nThis workshop runs on Monday\, June 5 from 7:00pm – 8:30pm \nDave Hiltebrand has been a full-time musician for over 25 years. Since graduating from DePaul University School of Music\, Dave has had extensive experience as a performer\, composer and studio musician. Highlights include the national tour of Jersey Boys\, co-writing and co-producing two national top-ten songs\, composing work for clients including the Oprah Winfrey Show\, Nike and Allstate\, and tours to South Africa\, Cuba\, Spain\, Italy and Egypt. His debut solo guitar album Yoguitar\, Vol. 1 was released in 2016. DESCRIPTION:This course is open to those who have previous songwriting experience or have taken Songwriting 101. In addition to continued practice\, workshop\, and conversation around lyric writing\, we’ll also begin to cover some foundational musical elements. Using basic theory and a few compositional tools\, we’ll begin to see lyrics change from words into song. \nThis course runs on Mondays\, June 12 – July 24 (NO CLASS JULY 3)\, 11:15am – 12:15pm \nKacie is a musician\, songwriter\, and educator based in Evanston\, IL. Aside from running her private teaching studio and directing at a nearby church\, Kacie founded\, performs\, and writes with Albion West – a progressive folk trio based in Chicago\, IL (www.albionwest.com). Her goal within her own work\, as well as her stance on teaching\, is to intertwine the ideas of theory\, technique\, and repertoire with the expression of self.
