In 2000\, the organization was joined by local musicians Lonnie Givens and Lester Deanes\, whose passion and commitment brought music and healing to the mission. Now\, in October 2025\, we honor their incredible legacy in a celebration concert that brings it all full circle. \nThis special fundraising event features an all-star musical lineup\, including: \n\n\nThe Detroit Emeralds\, Motown-era platinum recording legends known for hits like Feel the Need and Do Me Right \n\n\nCharles and the Floaters\, platinum-selling soul artists delivering classic R&B vibes \n\n\nLonnie Givens\, beloved Lake County R&B artist\, in a powerful and emotional homecoming performance \n\n\nBacked by the majestic sound of the Lake County Symphony Orchestra \n\n\nThis promises to be an evening that celebrates not only great music but also the resilience\, hope\, and strength of the cancer community. No auctions. No paddle raises. No extra asks. Just a fantastic evening of food\, drink\, music and community – all supporting Gorton’s mission.  \nEnjoy authentic German fare from Belvedere Events & Banquets\, festive beverages and lively German polka music from Die Musikmeisters and Gorton’s annual lively community celebration.
