DESCRIPTION:Registration For Children’s Summer Camp Opens Thursday\, February 20 at 10 am!\nOur Under the Sea themed summer camp invites young adventurers ages 6 weeks to 5 years to plunge into a world of imagination\, discovery\, and play. First dive we’re looking for fish\, second dive we’re on the hunt for all the sea creatures we can find\, and third dive we’re laser-focused on all the other life forms under the sea. \nCampers will enjoy a wide variety of enriching activities including art\, sensory-based science experiments\, gardening\, music\, water play\, and outdoor exploration. Our curriculum is designed to engage curiosity and encourage development through fun\, age-appropriate experiences. DESCRIPTION:“Mr. V’s Summer Road Trip”   \nA musical journey across America by rail –  for children ages K-4th \nJoin Mr. V. and his team on a magnificent\, tuneful journey by rail across the breadth of America\, beginning at the Statue of Liberty and hurtling across the continent to a terminus at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.  Along the way\, through this drama camp and through original songs as well as classic folk songs\, kids will discover the history\, culture\, and folklore from this land we love! \nM-F\, June 16-20  \n 9 am-3 pm  \n$399 \nPerformance on Fri. June 20  1:00 p.m. \nCheck out footage from Mr. V’s class this spring. \nCostumes are provided by Gorton Drama Studio. \n \nBill Vaananen is an award-winning music educator and composer who has taught and directed elementary-aged students for over 45 years. Originally from Oklahoma\, “Mr. V.” was general music teacher at Wescott School in Northbrook for 37 years. He has written hundreds of songs and dozens of original theater works that have been performed across Chicago’s northern suburbs. Recipient of the Golden Apple Award\, IEA Human Rights Award\, National-Louis Distinguished Alumni Award for Social Justice\, and Star of Teaching Award for the State of Illinois\, Vaananen continues to perform classes and presentations for children\, weaving his original music into inspiring lessons on Nature\, history\, culture\, and adventure. \n  \n\nInstructor Madison Kisst is an actor\, director\, and theatre teacher. She has taught for professional theater companies across the country and for the undergraduate acting program at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Madison has extensive training in physical and classical theatre\, voice and movement\, and devising. As an actor\, some of her credits include: American Repertory Theater\, Lyric Repertory Company\, The Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville\, Utah Shakespeare Festival\, Idaho Shakespeare Festival\, Nevada Conservatory Theater\, and Santa Cruz Shakespeare. She has her BA in Theatre Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Performance. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nAbout Our Artistic Director: Jeremy Kruse\, Artistic Director of Gorton Drama Studio is the author of “The Young Actor’s Handbook” (Applause Acting Series\, 2017).The book was published in Korean and Chinese in 2022. Jeremy is a professional actor\, published playwright\, award-winning screenwriter\, and award-winning filmmaker. Some of the classes he taught at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York include Method Acting\, Comedic Improvisation\, Sketch Comedy Writing\, and Acting for Film and TV. He graduated from The Strasberg Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he majored in drama. DESCRIPTION:Get ready to sparkle this summer at our Jewelry Design Camp: the perfect place for young fashionistas and creative minds to express themselves through wearable art! This fun and hands-on camp invites kids to design and craft their own jewelry\, learning techniques used by real-world designers to create beautiful\, one-of-a-kind pieces they’ll be proud to wear and share. \nCampers will explore how to create their own necklaces\, bracelets\, earrings\, charms\, and more\, experimenting with texture\, color combinations\, and styles to reflect their personality and creativity. They’ll also learn about basic jewelry-making tools\, design principles\, and finishing techniques to give their creations a polished\, professional look. \nTo celebrate their creativity and hard work\, the week wraps up with a mini fashion show where campers will strut their stuff and showcase their handmade jewelry pieces for friends and family. \nThe camp price includes all supplies and materials\, with each student creating at least five unique\, high-quality jewelry pieces to take home. No prior experience is necessary—just bring your creativity\, imagination\, and a love for fashion! \nFor those students who are looking to attend more than one week of camp\, please note that each week will feature a different series of projects as well as new clay colors and designs to choose from. Ages 6 – 13 \n \nElena Victoria is a local fashion designer who has gone on to find her true passion in teaching youth how to design and sew their own clothing and jewelry through her program\, EV Fine Arts. Come learn from real fashion designers in the industry and start making your own handmade jewelry!
