DESCRIPTION:Join us in the comfort of our Stuart room for a musical performance by Pierce Pettis!\n\n“Pierce Pettis bares a gentle soul with a keen eye\, a soulful voice\, and perfect guitar accompaniment for his beautiful songs – a masterful poet treasure.”  — Darryl Scott\n\nCompass Records Group recording artist Pierce Pettis has been around the block a few times.  An Alabama native\, he began his career at the famous Muscle Shoals Sound Studios.  Later\, he contributed to Fast Folk Musical Magazine in New York\, recorded for Windham Hill/High Street Records in Los Angeles\, and spent a decade as a staff songwriter for Polygram and Universal Music Publishing in Nashville.  His songs have been covered by Dion\, Art Garfunkel\, Garth Brooks and Joan Baez —as well as David Wilcox\, Tim O’Brien\, Dar Williams and Claire Lynch … to name a few.  His latest album\, “Father’s Son” was released by Compass in early 2019 to widespread critical praise.  Pierce’s albums can be ordered from his website: piercepettis.com\, compassrecords.com or downloaded from iTunes\, Amazon\, etc.  During the recent lockdown\, Pierce has been busy writing and demoing over a dozen new songs he’s now showcasing since full-time touring resumed.

DESCRIPTION:It’s time to renew and restore your mind and body. Restorative yoga is a restful practice meant to “restore” the body. This practice allows you to help your body deeply relax\, still your mind\, balance your nervous system and release muscle tension. \nThe journey begins with Yin Yoga (gentle and longer holds) focused on awakening our meridian lines\, moving into Pranayama techniques\, using breath work for expansion\, control and quieting the mind and concluding with a guided meditation practice. This monthly self-care workshop will inspire you to bring these newly learned yogic techniques into your everyday home practice. \nThis workshop runs on Sunday\, March 19\, 1:00pm – 2:30pm \nAbout the instructor:\nAreta has been teaching yoga in Lake Forest and in yoga studios along the North Shore for 10 years and is E-RYT 500 Certified. Areta’s passion is bringing yoga to Every BODY and has additional certifications in Meditation\, Adaptive Yoga for Disabilities\, Senior Yoga\, Love Your Brain for traumatic brain injury\, Yoga for Eating Disorder Recovery\, Yin Yoga\, and Yoga for 12 Step Recovery. Areta teaches yoga to inspire and empower physical well-being\, spiritual balance\, and awakening for everyday life. She is a long-time resident of Lake Forest and a disability advocate and volunteer yoga coach for the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA).

Drew plays music by ear and brings a new twist to a wide variety of songs and has recently released two independent original albums. Due to the influence of social media\, a majority of Drew’s supporters have come from an International audience and on April 21 and 22\, 2023 he hopes to connect with his hometown and bring his music to a local platform. Join Ken Ning and learn the flowing movements of Tai Chi.\nSaturdays 11:00am – 12:00pm \nKen has been practicing martial arts for 27 years\, and started Tai Chi training in 1996 with Sifu Dale Washington\, Sifu Ban Toy in 2000 and Grand Master Yang Jun in 2006. He has been practicing Tai Chi for 21 years and teaching Tai Chi for 12 years. In 2016\, he received a Gold Eagle certificate from Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association. certificate. Ken is also one of Grand Master Yang Jun’s Disciples for the Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan. He teaches Kickboxing and Full-contact Martial Arts teacher and is certified by Ng Family Martial Arts Association.
