DESCRIPTION:Death Café\nPull up a chair\, pour a warm cup of tea\, and enjoy a slice of cake. At a Death Café\, people – often complete strangers – come together to talk openly about death. At first\, it might sound unusual. Yet once the conversation begins\, something shifts. People start to relax\, laugh\, and connect. The simple act of naming what many avoid opens the door to deeper living. \nOur purpose is simple: to increase awareness of death so we can make the most of life. When we face mortality directly\, we often find more gratitude\, courage\, and clarity. Instead of pushing death aside\, we bring it into the light – and\, in doing so\, we invite more meaning into every moment. \nA Place for Honest Conversation\nUnlike a grief support group or counseling session\, a Death Café isn’t about fixing or healing. Rather\, it’s about conversation. It’s a space where curiosity replaces fear and where everyone’s perspective matters. As a death doula\, I’ll offer a gentle prompt or question to spark dialogue. From there\, the discussion flows naturally. Sometimes it’s serious. Other times it’s surprisingly light. Either way\, it’s always honest and alive. \nMoreover\, the Death Café welcomes every faith\, philosophy\, and worldview. Differences are embraced\, and respect anchors our exchange. You can speak\, listen\, or simply reflect – whatever feels right for you. \nBy the end\, most people leave with a sense of connection and renewal. Talking about death doesn’t diminish life – it deepens it. So come for the tea\, stay for the conversation\, and walk away seeing life with fresh eyes. \nCake\, coffee and tea are always served! \n \nLara N. Dotson-Renta\, PhD is a longtime writer\, educator and scholar of languages (Spanish and French). She is also a 500hr RYT yoga instructor with trauma informed yoga training through The Veteran’s Yoga Project and children’s yoga training from Full of Joy Yoga in CT. She is also a trained death doula through INELDA (The International End of Life Doula Association). She is interested in helping others live life more fully and intentionally. \nShe resides in Lake Bluff with her family.

Designed for parents of high school sophomores and juniors this information session will help you gain confidence in the process and answer your important questions. \nThis College Application Process Information Session is led by Susan Morris and Melissa Williams of Thrive U Education. Thrive U Education is an independent college search consultancy that helps families unravel the college application process by providing a clear plan\, explaining how to proceed at every step\, and teaching your student how to complete important college application milestones.
