SUMMARY:Sewing Camp: Hand Embroidery
DESCRIPTION:Hand Embroidery\nCalling all fashionistas interested in learning more about hand embroidery\, this is the perfect camp for you! During this one week camp\, sewers will learn how to hand embroider using embroidery hoops. We will combine our skills and embroider directly on jean jackets or students can do an applique technique to attached their designs using the machines. Students can choose to add their hand embroidery project onto their machine project or keep separate. This camp will be led by Ciao Bella Sewing. \nAll supplies\, including fabric\, sewing machines\, and sewing notions are provided. It is SEW much fun to sew and create. Students can bring their own sewing machine or use the provided sewing machines. Students should bring a water bottle and healthy snack everyday. *New and returning students are welcome! *Jean jackets will be provided OR students can choose to provide their own. \nAges 7 – 13 YO

Throughout the week\, campers explore creativity through a wide range of hands-on projects that turn ideas into something real. \nTo start\, we introduce a mix of materials and techniques. Kids work with fabric\, paint\, clay\, paper\, and collage. Next\, they learn how everyday materials can transform into something new. One day they might design a custom T-shirt. Another day they might create a board game\, shape a clay sculpture\, or build colorful room décor. Along the way\, they’ll craft key rings\, fridge magnets\, logos\, and other imaginative creations they can wear\, use\, gift\, or display at home. \nAs the session continues\, each project introduces a new creative skill. Campers experiment with color\, pattern\, texture\, and form. They test ideas. They revise designs. Most importantly\, they discover their own creative style. Instead of following a single template\, kids are encouraged to make choices and try something different. \nJust as important\, the process is playful and collaborative. Our friendly and attentive staff will oversee campers during lunch from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (or until 1:30 PM\, depending on the camp schedule)\, providing a safe and relaxed environment where kids can unwind\, eat\, and socialize with friends between activities. Family and friends are invited to celebrate their creativity and hard work. \nEach camper completes at least five original pieces to take home. The camp fee includes all materials and supplies. This camp is perfect for budding designers and hands-on makers alike. It blends fun\, fashion\, and artistic expression. \nNo prior experience is required. DESCRIPTION:Calling all future fashion designers! This exciting camp invites young fashionistas to explore their love of sewing and style in a fun\, supportive space. If your child loves colors\, fabrics\, and creativity\, then this is the perfect place to start. \nThroughout the week\, students jump right into designing. First\, they create small-scale outfits on their very own mini mannequins. Then\, they design custom jewelry to match their looks. In addition\, they enjoy fun fashion-themed games that spark imagination and teamwork. They also design stylish paper doll outfits and experiment with different patterns and textures. \nWith step-by-step guidance from our EV Fine Arts instructor\, students build confidence as they learn real sewing skills. They practice using a sewing machine and\, most importantly\, they sew a custom outfit they can proudly wear home at the end of the week. Every project encourages creativity\, independence\, and self-expression. \nAt the end of the week\, excitement fills the room during our “Fashion Show Friday.” Students walk the runway and proudly showcase their handmade creations for family and friends. Jeremy is a professional actor\, published playwright\, award-winning screenwriter\, and award-winning filmmaker. Some of the classes he taught at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York include Method Acting\, Comedic Improvisation\, Sketch Comedy Writing\, and Acting for Film and TV. He graduated from The Strasberg Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he majored in drama. Jeremy also teaches privately\, one on one  www.jeremykruse.com and www.jeremykruseactingtraining.com  \n  \n  \n  \nMadison Kisst is a professional actor\, director\, and educator with extensive training in physical and classical theatre\, voice and movement\, and devising. He graduated from The Strasberg Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he majored in drama. She is fluent in Ballet\, Jazz\, Tap\, Hip-Hop\, Modern\, Lyrical\, Contemporary\, Poms\, Pointe\, Musical Theatre\, Stretch/Conditioning and Character. Some of Carla’s credits include: The Chicago Tribune Charities production of “The Nutcracker ” at The Arie Crown Theatre\, Dirty Dancing\, Carnaval at The Victor Hotel\, Dance Chicago\, MTVs Sweet 16\, as well as various music videos and concerts nationwide. DESCRIPTION:Learn the fundamentals of comics creation! Create manga\, superhero comics\, 4-panel strips\, or your own unique style. Build the skills you need to tell stories through comics. \nIn Comics Lab\, you explore how comics differ from other forms of storytelling. You learn how to use this format in clear and engaging ways. Practice script writing\, page layouts\, and pacing. Work toward completing original comic pages. \nWe provide basic drawing supplies. Bring your own materials if you prefer\, whether digital or traditional. \nEach class begins with a focused lesson on a comics technique. Then you apply what you learn during guided workshop time. Work on a personal project or complete exercises based on the lesson. \n \nGraham Henderson is a comics creator and founder of Attune arts\, an adaptive arts and recreation company. He has published comics that have been translated into multiple languages\, exhibited at comic cons across the Midwest\, and found tremendous joy in making drawings come to life.

DESCRIPTION:Camp registration opens on Monday\, February 2 at 10 am\nGet Back to School Ready!\nSewing Camp: Back to School helps creative kids get ready for the school year while learning practical sewing skills. This hands-on sewing camp focuses on projects campers can use every day. As a result\, kids leave with both confidence and creativity stitched in. \nThroughout the week\, campers learn essential sewing techniques step by step. First\, they practice basic skills and safe tool use. Then\, they apply what they’ve learned to fun\, functional projects. Campers make cozy PJ pants\, a Velcro pencil case\, a reversible bag for school activities\, and a playful technology pillow. \nAlong the way\, campers follow patterns\, solve problems\, and bring their ideas to life. Each project builds independence while encouraging self-expression. Plus\, the supportive environment makes it easy for beginners and returning sewists to feel successful. \nBy the end of the week\, campers head back to school with new skills\, handmade projects\, and pride in what they’ve created. Most importantly\, they leave inspired and ready to keep sewing long after camp ends. \nThis camp will be led by Ciao Bella Sewing. All supplies\, including fabric\, sewing machines\, and sewing notions are provided. It is SEW much fun to sew and create. Students can bring their own sewing machine or use the provided sewing machines. \nStudents should bring a water bottle and healthy snack everyday. *New and returning students are welcome! \nAges 7 – 13 YO

Gorton Center’s customizable camps offer the perfect solution for busy families and curious kids! With engaging camp sessions available in both the morning and afternoon\, you can mix and match programs to fit your child’s interests and create a dynamic full-day experience. \nTo make things even easier\, Gorton offers a supervised lunchtime option for campers attending both a morning and afternoon session. Our friendly and attentive staff will oversee campers during lunch from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (or until 1:30 PM\, depending on the camp schedule)\, providing a safe and relaxed environment where kids can unwind\, eat\, and socialize with friends between activities. This convenient lunchtime care is available for just $20 per week. \nPlease note that lunch is not provided. Campers must bring their own sack lunch and drink each day.  \nImportant Registration Information:\nYou must pre-register for all camps and lunchtime supervision. Registration closes the Friday before the camp week begins (each Monday)\, so don’t wait to reserve your child’s spot! SUMMARY:Safety Town Commanders Camp 2026
DESCRIPTION:Three-Day Interactive Safety Awareness Program\n\nSafety Town Commanders runs Tuesday August 11  through Thursday August 13 \nThis camp is for 8-10 year-olds only. In order to register for this camp\, your child must be between the ages of 8-10 at the time of camp\, with no exceptions.\n Have a 5-7 year old? Register for Safety Town Majors Camp\n\nWhat A Camp Day Looks Like\nOur Safety Town Commanders Camp is modeled after the original Safety Town\, but with a curriculum built for the next level\, ages 8-10. The focus of this camp will include a review of the original Safety Town. We will also go in-depth with experts in areas like fire safety\, internet safety\, self-defense and beyond. Topics will cover many categories pertinent to this age group\, including what to do if your alarm goes off\, gun safety\, walking home alone\, falls\, poison/medicine safety\, bullying/cyberbullying and mindfulness – including yoga. \n\nCamp is dynamic and interactive\, with various what-if scenarios being played out and group discussions moderated by a certified teacher. They’ll creatively cover topics such as gun safety\, bike and skateboard safety\, what to do when you are home alone and cyber safety/online stranger danger.\n\n\n\n\n\nLake Forest Fire Department:  LFFD will teach kids about everything from fireworks safety to first aid. They will be demonstrating a sprinkler system with a real-live fire in the safe confines of their smokehouse to prompt a discussion about home fire prevention and escape planning. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOperation Lifesaver: Operation Lifesaver is a non-profit public safety education and awareness organization dedicated to reducing collisions\, fatalities and injuries at highway-rail crossings and trespassing on or near railroad tracks. Operation Lifesaver will be providing our kids with rail safety education!\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nLFOLA will teach our kids all about outdoor safety\, tick safety\, poisonous plants that are indigenous to our prairies\, and why it is so important to get off our screens and get outdoors! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
