SUMMARY:Drawing Faces Like Da Vinci Art Camp
DESCRIPTION:4 OR 5 DAY CAMP OPTIONS! Choose Monday\, June 2 – Friday\, June 6….or Tuesday\, June 3 – Friday\, June 6\nDrawing Faces Like Da Vinci is an engaging\, hands-on art camp designed specifically for middle and high school students who are curious about mastering the timeless art of portrait drawing. Drawing inspiration from one of history’s greatest artists and thinkers\, Leonardo da Vinci\, this camp introduces students to classical techniques that continue to influence artists today. \nOver the course of five interactive sessions\, students will receive direct instruction and guided practice in the foundational skills of portrait drawing. This modern approach makes classical art techniques feel fresh and relevant\, encouraging students to see the connections between history and their own creativity. \nCampers will explore and apply Da Vinci’s artistic principles\, including proportion\, symmetry\, anatomical accuracy\, and shading techniques. They’ll take a closer look at iconic works like the Vitruvian Man\, learning about the Golden Ratio and how it has shaped our understanding of beauty and balance in facial features. \nAs students progress through the camp\, they’ll begin to see improvements in their technical skills\, attention to detail\, and artistic confidence. Each participant will have the opportunity to create and refine their own portraits\, culminating in finished pieces they can proudly take home—true Renaissance-inspired masterpieces. \nWhether your child is a complete beginner or a budding young artist looking to refine their skills\, this camp provides an exciting opportunity to grow artistically in a supportive and inspiring environment. \nOpen to students entering 5th through 12th grade. All materials are provided. Don’t miss this unique chance to explore art through the eyes of a genius!

SUMMARY:Art Impact Project: Modigliani Self Portraits
DESCRIPTION:Amedeo Modigliani was an Italian painter whose portraits are often characterized by their elongated bodies and blank eyes\, distinctively ‘Modigliani’.  Using his technique and soft pastel\, we encourage artists to reflect on\, document\, and share their true story\, feelings\, and mood\, rather than the distorted version we sometimes have of ourselves. \nArt Impact Project uses this basic drawing technique to demonstrate how you can use this process to relax and let your creativity flow.  Using simple art supplies and water\, you’ll be given a prompt to create fun and colorful art.  You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy this unique wellness project.  All supplies provided. This event is for adults\, but children 6th grade and up are welcome! \nQuestions about this program or Art Impact Project? Please contact Cassandra\, Manager of Programming. Or\, visit the Art Impact Project website here! \nCelebrating their tenth anniversary\, Art Impact Project is a local 501c(3) with a mission of enhancing emotional wellness through creative expression.  They partner with organizations such as schools\, treatment facilities\, libraries\, and other community spaces throughout Lake County\, to facilitate art programming with a focus on better mental health.  Providing a supportive\, small group setting\, Art Impact Project guides participant step-by-step through the creative process so everyone can experience the benefits of art.

SUMMARY:Getting Started with Watercolor Pencil
DESCRIPTION:Explore the beauty of drawing and painting with watercolor pencils in this in-person course for beginners. Learn everything you need to get started – types of paper\, pencils\, how to put the color down\, how to paint with a pencil. Each session will be a review and work on the painting. The class will work on 3-4 paintings during the course. \nSTUDENTS NEED TO PURCHASE THEIR OWN SUPPLIES:  \n\nArtist Grade Watercolor Pencils (at least 24 colors\, 36 colors is preferred)\nMix Media Paper\n#1 Round Watercolor Brush\n1/8″ Angle Shader Watercolor Brush\nSelection of Small Watercolor Brushes\n\n \nPhilip Schorn – P Schorn Studio – Botanical Color Pencil Artist My botanical renderings are not drawings of plant specimens as seen in scientific books; rather\, they are renderings of plants as seen through the eye of an artist. I can look at the ground; I can see the shapes\, light\, and shadows. I focus on a small portion of the subject and what makes it interesting\, whether that be the individual leaf\, flower\, or snapshot of the ground\, to bring the details to life.\nI have been working with colored pencil for several years and teaching the art for the last three years. I’m currently teaching online from my home since March. I currently teach online color pencil classes for other art studios/galleries\, private classes and Facebook demos. I have two books published of my art/techniques on. I have done a number of outdoor shows\, group and individual exhibitions.\nMy process of making a rendering with the detail that I want to have requires a significant amount of time. Sometimes I use other media\, such as ink\, watercolors or pastels.\nI am a member of the Color Pencil Society of America\, Grayslake Arts Alliance and the Lake County Art League. SUMMARY:Getting Started with Color Pencil
DESCRIPTION:Explore the beauty of drawing with colored pencil in this course for beginners. Learn everything you need to get started – types of paper\, pencils\, how to put the color down\, how to draw without seeing lines\, layering\, and blending. Each session will be a review working on the drawing. The class will work on 2-3 renderings during the 4 week course. \nSTUDENTS NEED TO PURCHASE THEIR OWN SUPPLIES: \nSupplies: – Can be ordered through Blick Art Supply \n-48ct Prismacolor softcore pencils \n-1 9×12 300 series Strathmore Smooth Bristol Pad \n-1 Blick colorless blending pen \n-Pencil sharpener (electric or manual) \n-Smooth surface to draw on\, drawing board \n1 or 2-inch clean soft paintbrush (to use as a drafting brush) \n \nPhilip Schorn – P Schorn Studio – Botanical Color Pencil Artist My botanical renderings are not drawings of plant specimens as seen in scientific books; rather\, they are renderings of plants as seen through the eye of an artist. My studio is located in Grayslake. \nEmail: phil@nullpschornstudio.com   FB: pschornstudio/
