DESCRIPTION:Embark on an unforgettable journey with our “Queen: We Will Rock You” Summer Musical Theater Camp\, where the legendary music of Queen becomes the soundtrack to your theatrical adventure. Audition for iconic roles and immerse yourself in the exhilarating script\, preparing to bring the energy and magic of Queen’s music to life on stage. \nGuided by the expertise of Jeremy Kruse\, the author of “The Young Actor’s Handbook\,” and under the direction of Madison Kisst\, renowned for her success with “The Wizard of Oz\,” this camp is designed for both seasoned performers and those taking their first steps into the world of acting. Whether you’re a veteran actor or a novice\, you’ll find a welcoming and supportive environment to nurture your talents. \nCamp consists of acting\, singing\, dancing\, and audition classes. Basic and advanced principles of acting\, singing and dance are introduced and explored. All students will audition for and be cast in “Queen: We Will Rock You” that will be rehearsed for the remainder of camp and performed five times at the end of camp in The John and Nancy Hughes Theater. After the last performance\, there will be a cast party! Don’t miss the chance to be part of this unique and exhilarating musical journey that promises to be a highlight of your summer! \nAges 7-14 \nCheck out footage from last year’s production of “The Wizard of Oz.” \nDates: \n\nWeek 1 – July 15 – July 19 \n\n9am to 3pm\n\n\nWeek 2 – July 22 – July 26 \n\n9am to 3pm\n\n\nWeek 3 – July 29 – August 2 \n\n9am to 3pm\n\n\nNo camp August 5 \nWeek 4 – August 6\, 7 & 8\n\n11am\, 12:30am\, 11am (respectively) performances for other local camps and groups. \n\n\nWeek 4 – August 9 and 10 \n\n6pm performance and 1pm performance for the general public. \n\n\n\nAbout Our Artistic Director:\n \nJeremy Kruse\, Artistic Director of Gorton Drama Studio is the author of “The Young Actor’s Handbook” (Applause Acting Series\, 2017).The book was published in Korean and Chinese in 2022. Jeremy is a professional actor\, published playwright\, award-winning screenwriter\, and award-winning filmmaker. Some of the classes he taught at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York include Method Acting\, Comedic Improvisation\, Sketch Comedy Writing\, and Acting for Film and TV. He graduated from The Strasberg Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he majored in drama. Jeremy also teaches privately\, one on one  www.jeremykruse.com and www.jeremykruseactingtraining.com  \n \nDirector\, Madison Kisst is an actor\, director\, and theatre teacher. She has taught for professional theater companies across the country and for the undergraduate acting program at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Madison has extensive training in physical and classical theatre\, voice and movement\, and devising. As an actor\, some of her credits include: American Repertory Theater\, Lyric Repertory Company\, The Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville\, Utah Shakespeare Festival\, Idaho Shakespeare Festival\, Nevada Conservatory Theater\, and Santa Cruz Shakespeare. She has her BA in Theatre Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Performance.

SUMMARY:Safety Town Majors Camp 5-7 year olds 2023
DESCRIPTION:THIS CAMP IS SOLD OUT – PLEASE CALL THE MAIN OFFICE TO BE ADDED TO THE WAIT LIST\n\nplease note: counselor positions are full.  if you are interested in being a camp counselor\, please consider our safety town commanders camp for 5-8 year olds\, more information on signing up to be a counselor is here\n  \nWant to be a Safety town sponsor? Contact Ann Wildman for more information at ann@nullgortoncenter.org\n  \nThis camp is for ages 5-7 years. In order to register for this camp\, your child must be between the ages of 5 and 7 at the time of camp\, with no exceptions. PLEASE NO REPEAT CAMPERS\nSafety Town is an interactive safety awareness program for children 5-7 years of age. Each day the children will be introduced to various safety issues in a fun and safe environment. The program is taught by certified teachers with hands-on topics led by community guest speakers as well as visits from the Lake Forest Police Department and Lake Forest Fire Department. Teen volunteers lead the children through camp every day and receive valuable training along with obtaining community service hours. Campers learn about pedestrian safety by tricycling about a miniature town complete with streets\, sidewalks\, buildings\, stop signs and a working traffic signal. Importance is placed on having the children memorize a cell phone number to call if they should ever become lost. We use fun songs to reinforce all of these principles and the children memorize our very own Safety Town Pledge! \nSafety Town will be held at Gorton Center from Tuesday\, June 13th through Friday the 16th from 1 to 4 pm\, rain or shine. On Friday\, we will have graduation in our theater. A t-shirt will be provided on the first day of camp for campers to wear throughout the week. We ask that children bring their own helmets every day. We will provide the tricycles. \nWant to be a SafetyTown sponsor? Safety Town students learn about a variety of situations and what they should do to remain safe\, including: \n\nPedestrian\, Railroad and Traffic Safety\nBicycle Safety\nWater\, Beach and Playground Safety\nFire Prevention\nPersonal Safety\nPet and Wildlife Safety\nStranger Safety\n\nThere will be a graduation ceremony on the last day of the program. Certificates of Achievement will be given to all who go through the program. All family members are welcome!  Police and fire representative will be on hand to answer any questions. \nWho comes to Safety Town?
