DESCRIPTION:* THIS IS A HYBRID COURSE!  1.5 or 4.5 HOURS ONLINE @ HOME AND 2.5 HOURS IN-PERSON!\nThis blended learning style Basic CPR and AED class with optional First Aid is a must have basic skill everyone should learn. This class will not satisfy a BLS requirement. You will learn how to perform life-saving skills such as rescue breathing\, CPR\, and managing an obstructed airway for all ages. Also\, learn how to use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). \nThis course is designed by the Health Safety Institute\, a worldwide leader in CPR\, AED and First Aid emergency care training programs. Students will receive a certification valid for two years\, upon successful completion of the course. Class materials include a digital reference book and digital certification card issued upon successful completion of the in-person skills class. \nONLINE\nThe on-line prerequisite class is self-paced. It is best to use a PC to complete. We will send you the link for the online portion once we reach our registration minimum. If you have not received your learning link by 1 week prior to class\, please contact instructor (Tanya 847-989-7056). CPR and AED only will take approximately 1.5  hour.  CPR\, AED\, and optional First Aid will take up to 4.5 hours. The instructor will send you an email with the class options. A learning link can not be assigned until you choose your option. \nIN-PERSON (At Gorton Center)  \nIn-Person skills class is the same for both options and will take approximately 2.5 hours. Wear comfortable clothing. Most of the practice will take place on the floor. A kneeling pad is provided but students may also want to bring a yoga mat or towel to lie on floor. Please inform instructor prior to class if accommodations are needed to explore options. Every session begins with a friendly guided lesson so no one ever feels stuck\, then opens up into plenty of room to experiment\, make choices\, and follow their own imagination. There’s no single “right” way to do it\, and that’s the whole point. \nOur club is built around a relaxed\, encouraging atmosphere where mess is welcome and every idea is a good one. The lessons are fun\, hands-on\, and easy to understand. Through gentle practice and simple routines\, kids will build skills they can use at home\, school\, or anywhere they go. \nGood manners start with respect – for yourself and for others. When children practice polite behavior\, they show they care. They learn to be thoughtful guests\, kind friends\, and helpful family members. \nThis class covers key habits that make mealtimes smoother and conversations easier. Step by step\, students will learn how to behave politely in group settings and around the table. \nTopics include:\n\nSetting the table for a two-course meal using real plates\, cutlery\, and glasses\nPracticing how to use silverware correctly\nTaking turns and being patient while others speak\nSitting tall with good posture and keeping elbows off the table\nListening carefully and making eye contact when someone is talking\nStarting and joining polite conversations during meals\n\nEach skill is taught in a way that’s age-appropriate and fun. SUMMARY:Felted Bookmark Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Turn reading time into crafting time in this colorful wet felting workshop for kids! Young artists will discover how soft wool transforms into sturdy felt using water\, soap\, and gentle movement. Then they’ll use their handmade felt to create a one-of-a-kind bookmark.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNext\, each child will cut their felt into a bookmark shape and decorate it with beads and other fun embellishments. They can mix colors\, add patterns\, and create a design that reflects their own style. Every bookmark will be unique. \nAlong the way\, children will build confidence while exploring a new fiber art technique. They will practice creativity\, fine motor skills\, and problem-solving in a fun and supportive environment. This beginner-friendly class makes it easy to learn the basics of wet felting while enjoying the creative process. \nAt the end of the workshop\, each participant will take home a colorful handmade bookmark to enjoy or give as a thoughtful gift. All materials are provided. \nAges 9 – 12
