DESCRIPTION:Discover the Art of Colored Pencil Drawing\nWhether you’re a complete beginner or simply curious to explore a new artistic medium\, this engaging course is designed to introduce you to the beauty and versatility of colored pencils. In fact\, far beyond what you may remember from childhood or coloring books\, colored pencil is a powerful fine art tool. It can produce stunning detail\, rich color\, and expressive depth. \nIn this class\, you will first learn the foundational skills needed to begin your journey with colored pencils. Next\, we will cover essential topics such as the different types of pencils and paper available. From there\, you will discover how to apply color effectively and then practice techniques such as layering and blending in order to create depth and vibrancy in your drawings. \nEach session will not only introduce new techniques but also provide hands-on projects. As a result\, your confidence and skill will steadily grow. By the end of the course\, you will have completed 2–3 finished renderings\, each one designed to help you apply what you’ve learned in a creative and supportive environment. \nExperienced Artists Welcome\nIf you already have experience working with colored pencils\, you are welcome to join as well. Instead of following the beginner projects\, you may choose to focus on your own rendering. DESCRIPTION:* THIS IS A HYBRID COURSE!  1.5 or 4.5 HOURS ONLINE @ HOME AND 2.5 HOURS IN-PERSON!\nThis blended learning style Basic CPR and AED class with optional First Aid is a must have basic skill everyone should learn. This class will not satisfy a BLS requirement. You will learn how to perform life-saving skills such as rescue breathing\, CPR\, and managing an obstructed airway for all ages. Also\, learn how to use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). \nThis course is designed by the Health Safety Institute\, a worldwide leader in CPR\, AED and First Aid emergency care training programs. Students will receive a certification valid for two years\, upon successful completion of the course. Class materials include a digital reference book and digital certification card issued upon successful completion of the in-person skills class. \nONLINE\nThe on-line prerequisite class is self-paced. It is best to use a PC to complete. We will send you the link for the online portion once we reach our registration minimum. If you have not received your learning link by 1 week prior to class\, please contact instructor (Tanya 847-989-7056). CPR and AED only will take approximately 1.5  hour.  CPR\, AED\, and optional First Aid will take up to 4.5 hours. The instructor will send you an email with the class options. A learning link can not be assigned until you choose your option. \nIN-PERSON (At Gorton Center)  \nIn-Person skills class is the same for both options and will take approximately 2.5 hours. Wear comfortable clothing. Most of the practice will take place on the floor. A kneeling pad is provided but students may also want to bring a yoga mat or towel to lie on floor. DESCRIPTION:Come sing with us at this Wicked/Wizard of Oz–themed community sing led by Jackie Jasperson! Join us for an evening down the Yellow Brick Road\, celebrating the songs and stories of Oz. Feel free to don any sparkles\, colors or costumes you like – whether you’re channeling Elphaba\, Dorothy\, a Munchkin or just love a bit of emerald sparkle\, come as you are (or as you wish to be)! \nFirst\, we’ll warm up! Next\, we will sing a selection of favorites\, including: \n\nSomewhere Over the Rainbow\nDefying Gravity\nDing-Dong! The Witch Is Dead\nWe’re Off to See the Wizard\n\nNo experience is necessary\, and there’s no future commitment – just a chance to share music in a welcoming\, low-pressure setting. \nThe evening lasts about 45–60 minutes\, followed by time to connect. \nGood to know: \nOpen to all ages – bring the whole family \nNo experience or vocal knowledge necessary \nCostumes\, sparkles and colorful attire encouraged (but never required!) \nOne-off event with no future commitment \n  \nMeet Your Leader \n \nFor over 20 years\, Jackie has been teaching\, conducting\, directing and performing in a variety of musical and theatre genres\, including classical\, choral\, jazz\, musical theatre and pop. She now enthusiastically teaches private and group voice lessons all over Chicagoland\, including at the Old Town School of Music\, in addition to performing jazz standards and pop classics with her band. Jackie has a passion for helping people find their voice and confidence through lessons in breath support\, vocal tone\, intonation\, range expansion\, dynamics\, music theory and phrasing. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Theatre from the University of Wisconsin. \nSing at Gorton is a welcoming community sing series designed to bring people together in a fun\, informal way. Each event is themed around a different style of music\, led by local hosts and open to everyone — no experience or vocal knowledge necessary. These one-off gatherings last about 45–60 minutes and end with refreshments\, making it easy to join in\, connect and sing. \n

Featuring organically farmed\, sustainably crafted\, and thoughtfully made wines\, each selection will be chosen for its unique personality and story. \nThrough guided tasting and storytelling\, guests will discover the vineyards\, winemaking traditions\, and people behind each bottle. This festive and atmospheric experience invites wine lovers of every level to discover something unexpected in each glass. \nThe tasting will include tasting materials\, savory small bites\, and playful Halloween candy-andtreat pairings.
