Please call Gorton 847-234-6060 to register siblings and twins/triplets.\n\nMonday\, Tuesday\, Thursday 12:30-4 pm. (August 5th\, 6th\, & 8th. No camp on Lake Forest Day)\nThis camp is for 8-10 year-olds only. In order to register for this camp\, your child must be between the ages of 8-10 at the time of camp\, with no exceptions.\n Have a 5-7 year old? Register for Safety Town Majors Camp 5-7 years here!\n\nOur Safety Town Commanders Camp is modeled after the original Safety Town\, but with a curriculum built for the next level\, ages 8-10. The focus of this camp will include a review of the original Safety Town (Majors) and will go in-depth with experts in areas ranging from fire safety to internet safety and beyond. Topics will cover many categories pertinent to this age group including what to do if your alarm goes off\, gun safety\, walking home alone\, falls\, poison/medicine safety\, bullying/cyber bullying and mindfulness which includes yoga.\n\nCamp is dynamic and interactive\, with various what-if scenarios being played out and group discussions moderated by a certified teacher. Children will learn everything from how to use a fire extinguisher to how to navigate safely in today’s cyber world and more! \nWant to be a Safety Town sponsor? Contact Ann Wildman for more information. \n\nWe are proud to have the following experts teaching our camp:\n\n\n\nLake Forest Police Department: LFPD will teach the kids safety awareness and self defense in a fun/interactive way! They’ll creatively cover topics such as gun safety\, bike and skateboard safety\, what to do when you are home alone and cyber safety/online stranger danger.\n\n\n\n\n\nLake Forest Fire Department:  LFFD will teach kids about everything from fireworks safety to first aid\, to even demonstrating a sprinkler system with a real-live fire in the safe confines of their smokehouse. This prompts a discussion about home fire prevention and escape plannning. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nK9 Reading Buddies of the Northshore: K9 Reading Buddies of the Northshore will bring their therapy dogs on site and teach the campers all about pet safety! Topics covered will include what to do if a scary or unknown dog approaches and the do’s and don’ts around dogs.\n\n\n\n\n\nOperation Lifesaver: Operation Lifesaver is a non-profit public safety education and awareness organization dedicated to reducing collisions\, fatalities and injuries at highway-rail crossings and trespassing on or near railroad tracks. Operation Lifesaver will be providing our kids with rail safety education!\n\n  \n  \n  \n \n Yoga with Areta: Our resident yoga instructor will teach about the importance of practicing mindfulness and grounding. \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \nAmerican Red Cross: The American Red Cross will be focusing on fire emergency preparedness and readiness at home. \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \nWelcome Wellness with Mollie Lawniczak: Mollie from Welcome Wellness will be presenting on nutrition! \n  \n  \n  \n \nLFOLA will teach our kids all about outdoor safety\, tick safety\, poisonous plants that are indigenous to our prairies\, and why it is so important to get off our screens and get outdoors! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFit2Defend Academy: This will involve an interactive session where kids learn about self-defense and get to practice moves with each other and an instructor.

Gorton Drama Awaits.\nAbout Our Artistic Director:\n \nJeremy Kruse\, Artistic Director of Gorton Drama Studio is the author of “The Young Actor’s Handbook” (Applause Acting Series\, 2017).The book was published in Korean and Chinese in 2022. Jeremy is a professional actor\, published playwright\, award-winning screenwriter\, and award-winning filmmaker. Some of the classes he taught at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York include Method Acting\, Comedic Improvisation\, Sketch Comedy Writing\, and Acting for Film and TV. He graduated from The Strasberg Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he majored in drama. Jeremy also teaches privately\, one on one  www.jeremykruse.com and www.jeremykruseactingtraining.com  \n \nDirector\, Madison Kisst is an actor\, director\, and theatre teacher. She has taught for professional theater companies across the country and for the undergraduate acting program at the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
