Virtual Cinema: Women’s Adventure Film Tour 2021 Part of the Virtual Theater
The Women’s Adventure Film Tour is a program of short films that celebrate the inspiring women around us who are doing extraordinary things in the name of adventure. Every year, a selection of unique short films are carefully chosen to show awesome women achieving their personally adventurous goals. Being adventurous doesn’t always have to mean being the fastest, going the highest or doing the most extreme things. Adventure for the most of us is stepping outside our comfort zone and climbing our own personal Everest. The films showcase real stories about women from a variety of cultures and sports around the world and can be enjoyed by women, children and men of all ages.
This program is made up of short films and runs approximately 100 minutes total.
Directed by: Ash Ball, Ed Coney
Sea Birds is an inspiring story that explores the lives of 25 ladies who swim in the ocean together everyday. No matter how much experience you’ve had in life it can be as unpredictable as the ocean. Pauline and Mina demonstrate that there’s always a hand of friendship that will find you and hold you when you least expect it. Side by side, or bum cheek to bum cheek, the Sea Birds have discovered that the cold water is unpleasant, that it’s hard to be pretentious when you’re in the nude and that in the middle of the ocean you just might find the freedom you’re searching for.
JUST BE Directed by: Susanna Kosa
Just Be is a short movie about the art of living wide rather than living long. “Life’s short, they say. But…maybe it’s just long enough, if you live it right.” Yes, it’s two girls mountain biking, but the message is transferable to everyone, no matter which activity you choose outdoors.
JACK OF ALL TRADES Directed by: Storyboard Productions
Sophia Schwartz’s 2020 project “Jack of All Trades” was born from the desire to push herself in the mountains. Sophia has the most fun in the mountains when she feels like she is growing her ability level in all aspects of skiing and working alongside friends to develop new skill sets. Secondly, she realized a media project could be a pillar in her progression and help her develop a dependable support system to help her accomplish her goals, and keep her accountable.
So Sophia wrote down 3 big and diverse goals:
Jumping: Land a double backflip
Mountaineering: Ski the Grand Teton
Freeride: Link-up the “Jackson Hole Trifecta” (3 technical ski lines in a single day)
Each one was daunting and inspiring. She knew whether she was able to succeed or not- the days working towards these goals would surely be the most fun of the season.
TRANSCENDING Directed by: Marin Hart
Transending follows the journey of Erin Parisi as she comes into her own identity as a Transgender woman and trains for the Seven Summits to create awareness and visibility for the Trans community. This is a journey of extensive vulnerability, heartbreak and courage.
