Identifying the Red Flags: A Holistic Approach at Speech and Sensory Motor Development

Gorton has partnered with Kick Start Pediatric Therapy Network to offer a 4 workshop virtual parenting series!

Ever wonder if your child needs Speech Therapy? Occupational Therapy? Learn about the red flags that could indicate whether your child might need extra support in these areas.

Esther Weisz (OT) will provide a comprehensive look at sensory, gross and fine motor development. Alison Kleiman (SLP) will discuss various speech and language milestones. Both therapists will also discuss what these therapies look like in practice and how therapy can help children make developmental progress.

Wednesday, May 12: A Passion for Play: Developing and Fostering a Sense of Play in Your Child and Yourself

Esther Weisz, M.S., OTR/L Owner, Clinical Director – Kick Start Pediatric Therapy Network

Esther is a certified and licensed occupational therapist with over 15 years of experience. She received her Master’s degree in occupational therapy at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She is a certified early intervention evaluator and provider for the state of Illinois. Esther has worked with infants through school aged children in a variety of settings including hospital inpatient and outpatient, the Illinois Early Intervention System, schools and private clinics.  The formation of Kick Start is the realization of a dream to provide the highest quality, innovative treatment to children, and continued education and training for therapists. She currently lives in Chicago with her husband and three children.

Alison Kleiman, M.S., CCC-SLP – Speech Language Pathologist – Kick Start Pediatric Therapy Network

Alison is a certified and licensed speech and language pathologist. She received her Master’s degree in Speech, Language and Learning from Northwestern University and her Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis in Psychology, Spanish, and Children’s Studies.

Class Refund and Cancellation Policy: Refunds will only be given up to one week prior to the first week of class of any session. (The refund period for some classes, which require advanced reservations or purchase of materials, may be more limited.) Cancellations will incur a $5 handling fee for programs costing under $100 and a 10% handling fee for programs with fees of $100 or more. If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, you will be notified, and a full refund will be given.

If this class does not meet the minimum participation requirement, you will be notified of the cancellation within one week of the start date.

By purchasing a ticket to an event at Gorton, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and/or I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending or participating in a Gorton program, event or activity and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child(ren) or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my child(ren) may experience or incur in connection with my or my child(ren)’s attendance at Gorton or participation in a Gorton program, event or activity (“Claims”). On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless Gorton, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of Gorton, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any Gorton program, event or activity.
