The College Essay Lady – presents the Personal Statement
THIS CLASS IS A 2- PART SERIES. IT WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 10 AND TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, FROM 6:30pm – 8:30pm
This process could change your life.
That’s right. The personal statement writing process can be empowering, therapeutic, and even life-altering. Why? Writing your personal statement is a hero’s journey. There are dangers, and there is the possibility that you may have hardships. But there’s also the possibility that, if you stick with it, something amazing may happen.
DO YOU DARE? If so, let’s work together
The first session schedule is set with strategies and exercises that will help you choose your best topic and learn the techniques to showcase your talents and challenges in a way that admission counselors are eager to hear. We will also analyze essays from previous students, and share our ideas with a partner or small group.
You will leave with a solid idea or two for your personal statement and be ready to write a draft for the second session.
In the second session we will review and edit your essay using some proven editing and revision techniques that will grab the admissions counselor’s attention and hold it through all 650 words.
What to Bring?
A laptop or iPad for writing and editing will make your life easier. If you do not have one, that’s okay – a journal and something to write with will work. Some healthy snacks and your own water bottle will keep you going through the class.
