First Thursdays Film Series: On the first Thursday of the month throughout the year, Gorton screens the latest in independent cinema – from award-winning documentaries, to riveting dramas to artistically excellent cinematic short films. The John and Nancy Hughes Theater is a proud member of NATO – the National Alliance of Theater Owners and adheres to NATO’s “CinemaSafe” campaign, a program promoting protocols and guidelines developed and supported by leading epidemiologists to support safe moviegoing. Gorton is proud to join more than 33,000 screens nationwide who have committed to implementing expert-backed, industry-specific health and safety protocols, including, but not limited to:

• Encouraging those patrons who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 to wear a mask while inside. Masks are of course welcome to be worn for your comfort regardless.
• Enforcing social distancing in our theater.
• Reducing capacity in our theater.
• Enhancing building cleaning, and providing hand sanitizer stations.
