Method Acting with Jeremy Kruse

Tuesdays from 4:00pm – 5:00pm
March 2 – April 27
Ages 8 – 13

*Class will be either in person or virtual depending on the State of Illinois guidelines at the time.

The classes consist of fun acting exercises, improv games and scene work that engage the actor’s imagination and spark creativity. Students learn Method Acting principles: creating real behavior, creating a character, stage presence, and more. The students will be assigned scenes to work on. They will execute the process of working on a scene, focusing on character development, dynamics of the relationship, and creating real behavior. At the end of the session, depending on the policy outlined by the State of Illinois, the scenes will either be presented live for invited family and friends or presented virtually

Jeremy Kruse is the author of “The Young Actor’s Handbook” (Applause Acting Series, 2017). Jeremy is a professional actor, published playwright, award-winning screenwriter, and award-winning filmmaker. He taught Method acting to actors of all ages at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. He graduated from The Strasberg Institute at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he majored in drama. www.jeremykruse.com and www.youngactorsresource.com.

The Gorton Community Center is proud to prioritize safety throughout our building. – Instituting a building wide mask policy (masks may be removed when eating or drinking)
– Enforcing social distancing in our common areas, theater and classrooms
– Reducing capacity throughout our building
– Enhancing building cleaning, and providing hand sanitizer stations
– Modifying concessions (including the elimination of communal food options)

Class Refund and Cancellation Policy: Refunds will only be given up to one week prior to the first week of class of any session. (The refund period for some classes, which require advanced reservations or purchase of materials, may be more limited.) Cancellations will incur a $5 handling fee for programs costing under $100 and a 10% handling fee for programs with fees of $100 or more. If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, you will be notified, and a full refund will be given.

If this class does not meet the minimum participation requirement, you will be notified of the cancellation within one week of the start date.

By purchasing a ticket to an event at Gorton, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and/or I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending or participating in a Gorton program, event or activity and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless Gorton, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of Gorton, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any Gorton program, event or activity.
