Math for Kids: Powerful Problem Solving!
This 4 week class runs on Mondays, November 4 – December 2 (NO CLASS 11/11)
Grades 1 & 2 at 2:15pm – 3:05pm
Grades 3 & 4 at 3:15pm – 4:15pm
This class is based upon revolutionary math education work out of Stanford University that combines high-cognitive demand mathematical tasks with a growth mindset approach to enhance the problem-solving skills and self-identities of young mathematicians. Using visual situations, class discourse, and metacognition, students will deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts, improve their reasoning abilities, and develop positive social-emotional skills needed to tackle difficult problems.
This problem-solving class is appropriate for all types of learners – those who love math and those who don’t, yet! With low-floor/high-ceiling tasks, a wide variety of students will find these sessions perfectly challenging to grow their brainpower and to expand their mathematical knowledge.
This is an enrichment class in which everyone is invited and able to thrive!
Gorton Community Center will take and may use photos and videos from this event for its promotional purposes. Your attendance indicates your consent to the above.
