Virtually Gorton: Tuesday Night Film Club
Hello Gorton film fans!
I miss seeing you at the movies! While the John & Nancy Hughes Theater is closed, I thought the next best thing would be getting together to talk about films. Every week we will have two suggested films to watch and on Tuesday evenings at 7pm we will get together via Zoom to discuss them. For the first few weeks we are going to become our very own “Brat Pack” and start with the amazing works of our theater’s namesake — the one…the only John Hughes!
So hop into your dad’s red convertible, dust off that 80’s prom dress and get ready to talk film with your Gorton crew!
Hope to see you there!

THIS WEEK’S FILM:
For April 14th at 7:00PM
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
If you cannot already tell from the photo above and what was definitely my best Halloween costume ever, this film is not only one of my favorite Hughes flicks–it is one of my favorite films period. Who hasn’t wished they were the charismatic Bueller on a spontaneous adventure in the streets of Chicago before? Or attempted to reenact the parade scene to a full street of strangers? Hmm…really, just me? This film is SO MUCH FUN–whether you have watched it a million times or are seeing it for the first time. *Not-so-subtle hint* parents, now would be a PERFECT time to introduce your kids to the movie…I will even be sharing a few ideas of how you can have your very own “day off” from home as we get closer to film club. Anyway, I think we need a little bit of Ferris’s spirit in our lives right now so that’s why we’re kicking off film club with this flick.
