Chili Cook Off
Baby it’s cold outside! Our Chili Cook Off is sure to warm one and all at this fun family night at Gorton! Don your apron to compete or just come to enjoy the delicious offerings.
Competitors should register their team and bring two crock-pots filled with your chili and bring the list of ingredients. Private judges (by invitation only) vote for their favorite chili recipe and we will have first, second and third place winners! Winners will be announced at 5:45.

- Each contestant/team must supply 3 quarts and two slow cookers with cooked ready to eat chili. Set up time will be 3:15pm/event opens to public at 4:00.
- Contestant/team will be assigned a set up area and must keep it safe and clean.
- Each team has the opportunity to be featured on our website (please provide photo and “chili bio”)
- Please bring a copy of your recipe (unless it’s a family secret!) and a chili star rating of spice level (we will provide)
Local artisan Laura Carney “Lolo Pottery” will be for sale at the event.
PARTICIPANTS / TEAMS:
La’s Spice Team:
My husband and I disagree about what chili is best-the truth will prevail?!
Zen of Slow Cooking is a local, award winning social impact spice business with a line of premium “globally inspired” spice blends designed for recipes crafted for the Instant Pot, Crockpot or slow cooker. We launched our business in 2012 and have over 300 recipes on our food blog. We had a hard time picking our favorite chili recipe – so we are showcasing two– our traditional taco chili and our delicious “plant based” sweet potato and black bean. You be the judge! To learn more about our business, please go to www.thezenofslowcooking.com.
The Daily Grind:
Our chili is made with fresh ground beef, made with love and slowly perfected over the years!
To Bean or Not to Bean:
This chili is the famous chili of Nancy Dunsey…does it have beans, is the question?!
The Community Church Chili Team:
The Community Church Chili Team will be led by Chef Bryn Benson, whose chili is well-known from California to Illinois. After winning the famous Lake Bluff BBQ competition last fall, the Community Church hopes to keep its winning streak alive at Gorton!
Kavita & Vikas want to put a vegetarian twist to a family favorite. “We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!”
Gorton Community Center will take and may use photos and videos from this event for its promotional purposes. Your attendance indicates your consent to the above.
Film and Event Refund and Cancellation Policy: There is no refund given for unused film or event tickets.
