Join us at our annual Chili Cook-Off! Don your apron to compete or just come to enjoy the delicious offerings from local restaurants and organizations and camaraderie of the community.
Professional judges (by invitation only) vote for their favorite chili recipe and we will have first and second place winners! Winners will be announced at 3:00.
For the purpose of this contest, chili is defined as any kind of meat, meat substitute, cooked with chili peppers, or other peppers, spices, vegetables, and other ingredients. May or may not include beans
Lake County residents who would like to compete MUST fill out a TEMPORARY FOOD EVENT PERMIT in order to serve chili. All forms must be turned in to the Lake County health department no later than 7 days before the event. This is due to health codes. The fee is $50 payable to permitting online. All chili must be cooked in a commercial kitchen. Gorton will supply access to our commercial kitchen on a first come first serve basis. Because of the $50 permit fee application, registration for residents is free.
If you would like to attend this event as a “taster” the cost is $5 per person-where you can sample of all the contestants’ chili and to vote for your favorite! (We’ll have a People’s Choice Award)
This is a fun family event! Enter our raffle for a chance to win prizes. Winners will be announced every half hour.
Cash bar will be available with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks.
