Chili Cook Off 2022

Baby it’s cold outside!  Our Chili Cook Off is sure to warm one and all at this fun family night at Gorton!  Don your apron to compete or just come to enjoy the delicious offerings.

Competitors should register their team and bring two crock-pots filled with your chili and bring the list of ingredients.  Private judges (by invitation only) vote for their favorite chili recipe and we will have first, second and third place winners!  Winners will be announced at 2:45.

Chili, for the purpose of this contest, is defined as any kind of meat, meat substitute, cooked with chili peppers, or other peppers, spices, vegetables and other ingredients.  May or may not include beans.

  • Each contestant/team must supply 3 quarts and two slow cookers with cooked ready to eat chili.  Set up time will be 12:15pm/event opens to public at 1:00.
  • Contestant/team will be assigned a set up area and must keep it safe and clean.
  • Each team has the opportunity to be featured on our website (please provide photo and “chili bio”)
  • Please bring a copy of your recipe (unless it’s a family secret!) and a chili star rating of spice level (we will provide)
Entrance fee is $50 – spots are limited and are to be filled on a first come first serve basis. Please bring chili already made.  Teams will get one six foot table and up to three chairs at each table.
If you would like to attend this event as a “taster” the cost is $5 per person.  This includes a meal (we are catering chili (both meat and vegetarian) and the ability to sample small tastes of all the contestants’ chili and to vote for your favorite!
This is a fun family event!  Enter our raffle for a chance to win prizes.  Winners will be announced every half hour.
Cash bar will be available with beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.

On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless Gorton, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of Gorton, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any Gorton program, event or activity. Artists, dates, times, prices and fees are subject to change.
