Chicago a cappella: Dynamic Duos
The Greatest Musical Partnerships
From classical to classic rock and pop, musical theater and opera, Chicago a cappella shines a spotlight on your favorite songwriting and performing duos from, well, the past few hundred years or so. Where else could you find Mozart and Da Ponte, Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto, Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Gilbert and Sullivan, Simon and Garfunkel, George and Ira Gershwin, and the Captain and Tennille all in the same room?

From the Music Director:
This program is the result of a 5 minute brainstorm by the singers of Chicago a cappella. Over drinks. After a rehearsal. About 2 years ago. They actually generated over a hundred song/artist ideas that fit this theme, and it was difficult to narrow down our favorites that would fit in a reasonably-lengthed show. Truthfully, we could have come up with 10 more great shows, all with different content, under the same theme. What we have here, though, is our best attempt at variety and a cross representation of all the great Dynamic Duos in music history: writing partners, performing partners, recording partners, musicians and lyricist, TV stars, you name it. What a privilege to gather arrangements and to write new ones, and to spend time with these great minds. We hope you’ll find it as dynamic as we do!
