Rendezvous Arts/Salon Series-A Rendezvous Revue Part of the Salon Series
A Rendezvous Revue
This concert will be recorded and link provided January 17th
Grab a glass of wine or a mug of hot chocolate, curl up on the couch, and Rendezvous with us from the safety and comfort of your home! All of the ensembles from the Rendezvous inaugural season will share some of their favorite pieces, as well as conversation and commentary from a musician’s point of view. We’ll also bring you works from Lake Forest artist Mark McMahon and an interview from inside his studio.
Visual artist: Mark McMahon painting/sculpture/drawing/photography
Mark McMahon comes from a multi-generational family of famous artists. His father, five of his nine siblings, his three children and his wife all make their livings as artists. The McMahon family mediums of choice include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, furniture making and pumpkin carving. Mark created the largest mural in Chicago, located at Van Buren and Federal Streets and measuring 8 by 125 feet. Each tile was hand painted, glazed and fired before being mounted to the wall, and the piece took 18 months to complete. When it comes to painting and drawing, Mark is a “location” artist, using pencil to draw what he sees in the moment and then using paint to finish the piece in his studio. He has drawn scenes from major cities all over the world, baseball games, car races and is even an artist for NASA.
Gorton Community Center will take and may use photos and videos from this event for its promotional purposes. Your attendance indicates your consent to the above.
