Adult Songwriting 101: Foundations
Songwriting 101 is geared towards those new to the craft as well as all levels of experience. In this course, we’ll cover the basics of what makes a song a song, and begin to use those key components to pen some of our own. This course will focus primarily on lyrics and song structure, no instrument proficiency is required. For those interested in composition, please see the course “Adult Music Theory/Composition 1: Foundations”.
This class runs on Mondays, May 16 – June 13 (NO CLASS MAY 30), 10:00am – 11:00am
Kacie is a musician, songwriter, and educator newly based in Lake Forest. Aside from running her private teaching studio, Kacie founded, performs, and writes with Albion West – a folk/jazz/classical artist collective based in Chicago, IL (www.albionwest.com). Her goal within her own work, as well as her stance on teaching, is to intertwine the ideas of theory, technique, and repertoire with the expression of self. She holds a degree in Commercial Music from Indiana University (www.kacieswierk.com).
