Internet safety expert
LEAD is dedicated to the promotion of healthy family relationships and the prevention of alcohol, drug use, and other risky behavior by youth. LEAD has served the Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and Knollwood community for over 30 years, and now conducts trainings, workshops and presentations for both youth and adults all over the country. During the 2017-2018 school year, LEAD has spoken face-to-face with more than 3,500 students and more than 3,000 parents and community leaders – the most in their history. For Safety Town Commander, LEAD will run a fun/interactive program teaching 8-10 year olds about medicine safety. We are so excited to have this highly regarded community organization involved in Safety Town!
Dr. Kelly Ray is the owner of Kelly Ray & Associates, a group psychology practice in Evanston. She received her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University in 2002 and completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowship training at Northwestern University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Dr. Ray’s practice primarily treats adolescents and adults. She and her staff treat issues of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, grief/loss, adjustment, parenting/relationship concerns, the mind-body connection, and also provide mindfulness-based treatment. Dr. Ray will be covering how to be mindful in today’s internet focused world as well as other relationship issues pertinent to 8-10 year olds such as bullying and how to relate to peers and adjust to social rules.
Anya Leist originally hales from New York and has been living in Chicago for almost three years now. She spends her days teaching first grade at North Shore Country Day School. When she is not in the classroom, Anya loves to get out and try new things. In addition to having a new adventure at Safety Town, Anya hopes to explore some of our country’s national parks this summer. She will be our classroom teacher and moderator of small group discussions.

*SAFETY TOWN CANCELLATION POLICY: You may cancel your child’s Safety Town registration up to four weeks before the first day of camp. We are not able to give refunds for cancellations with less than four weeks notice. A 10 percent handling fee will be assessed for all cancellations. To cancel, please call 847-234-6060. If your child is unable to attend camp due to medical reasons, you may receive a refund (less the 10% processing fee) at any time prior to the start of camp by providing a doctor’s note. We are unable to refund for any missed days of camp.
*NO REPEAT CAMPERS: To ensure that many children in our community have the opportunity to go through camp between the ages of 5 and 7, once your child has graduated from Safety Town, they cannot attend camp again. Thank you for understanding.
*WAIT LIST POLICY: If Safety Town sells out, you can place your child on a waiting list from our website. If a spot should open up, we will contact families in the order they were placed on the waiting list.
