Gorton has openings for high school and college summer interns for 2018! These assignments are unpaid, but can be applied toward intern crediting classes and added to resumes!
Gorton Community Center is seeking intern(s) to assist the staff in daily office tasks, and assist with marketing and events. It can entail anywhere from 15-20 hours per week.
Responsibilities Can Include:
General office work and answering phones
Working specific events
Adding events and ticketing pages to proprietary website
Creating flyers (in Publisher and similar applications)
Assisting with administrative tasks for specific events such as making name tags, signs, creating spreadsheets, helping with budget sheets, etc .
Making vendor phone calls, helping keep track of vendor relations
Hanging flyers at various premises in the towns of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff
Compiling lists for entertainment/event prospects and following up on communication with them
Creating powerpoint (or other) slides for films advertising upcoming events
Write and design newsletters, press releases, and fact sheets.
Write copy for print and online communications.
Monitor social forums including Facebook, YouTube and Twitter and develop and implement new strategies for effectively engaging interested parties via electronic communications and social networks.
Manage website content changes and maximize its connections.
Manage Salsa, Gorton’s donor database
Develop new strategies for direct mail communications.
Keep electronic media content current and timely.
Ensure all links to outside sources are active.
Seek new opportunities to list information and increase Gorton’s web presence.
Build Gorton’s presence on Facebook and LinkedIn through regular postings and interactions with users.
